I came across one of the rules of Islamic business that you cannot sell what you do not own. Do you know if that rule stretches to drop shipping–specifically to ecommerce?
Im not sure. I will ask my sunday school teacher tomorrow who is an economics professor at James madison university in harrisonburg, VA, US.
I think its ok, because the retailer is acting as a middle man, connecting the consumer and the producer…
i guess the retailers intensions might make it wrong though?.. perhaps… if the intension are so that he does not have to pay for it to be shipped to his store and not loose any money whats so ever…
No, that’s technically not wrong as long as they have a contract to do so, its fine. You’re still selling a service to the manufacturer to sell their goods.
What would be wrong is if they sold it and took all the money or did it w/o the consent of the manufacturer or provider of the goods.
Also, if they are out of stock, they should return the money to the customer if they ultimately cannot provide the goods.

Be wise in charity and love, and love your enemies in wisdom.
How could you be more perfect?
One does not “drop-ship” to a religion.
The nation where the address is located dictates such policies.
Thousands of gifts are drop-shipped every day around the world.
Assuming you mean this:

I hope that addressed your question.
