I am looking for business models that do not have inventory.
For example, an ecommerce site the takes the order from the customer and then has the manufacture drop ships the item directly to the customer. Or, in the promotional product industry a customer places the order with the distributor and the distributor has the manufacture decorate the product and ship it directly to the customer.
What kinds of industries operate this way?

Marketing companies can specialize in a lot of different consumer items. All you need is a manufacturer or wholesaler of a common, high-demand consumer item who will take orders from a marketer (e.g. you) and ship direct to the consumer. Cell phones, cameras & accessories, auto accessories, CDs/DVDs, all kinds of high-volume items.
